Colorado High School Cheerleading Championships 2025: Castle View, Coal Ridge, DSST: Cedar Dominate (2026)

The Colorado high school cheerleading scene is on fire! 🥳🎉

Three schools dominated the 2025 Spirit State Championships in Denver, leaving their mark on the All-Girl and Co-Ed Cheer competitions.

DSST: Cedar, Coal Ridge, and Castle View—what a trio! Each team defended their titles from the previous year, showcasing incredible talent and determination.

In the 2A/3A Co-Ed division, DSST: Cedar's Falcons soared to victory, securing their second consecutive state championship. Coach Sam Barton attributes their success to increased confidence and a focus on mastering challenging skills. Despite a tough week with illnesses and injuries, the team gave it their all, leaving coach Barton beaming with pride.

But here's where it gets controversial—is it a coincidence that DSST: Cedar's only state championships are in cheerleading, a sport often overlooked in favor of more traditional sports?

Moving up to 4A, Coal Ridge maintained their winning streak, claiming their eighth consecutive title. Coach Alyssa Thurman acknowledges the pressure to keep the streak alive but emphasizes the importance of preparation and team chemistry. With a majority of new team members, their victory is a testament to hard work and resilience.

And then there's Castle View, the powerhouse of 5A Co-Ed Cheer. They clinched their third straight title and their ninth in the last 12 years! Head coach Tatum Reel reflects on the challenges of staying at the top, but her team's resilience shines through. Despite a rollercoaster season, they consistently rose to the occasion, making each victory sweeter.

The competition was fierce, with narrow margins separating the top teams. Castle View's final score of 88.25 just edged out Highlands Ranch (86.10) and Pueblo West (85.80).

As the championships draw to a close, the spotlight shifts to dance, with jazz, poms, and hip-hop routines set to dazzle audiences. Will these schools continue their reign in the dance category? Stay tuned to find out!
