Mac Jones is set to start this week after a full practice session on Thursday, according to NBC Sports. This comes as a relief for the 49ers, who have been dealing with a series of injuries. Jones, who has been playing through knee and oblique injuries, will make his fifth start of the season. Coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed this, stating that Jones is 'much better than he was last week' and that 'Mac’s much better than he was last week, and Brock is doing better than he did last week.'
The 49ers' upcoming game against the Falcons on Sunday Night Football will be an interesting one, as the team continues to navigate through injuries. While Jones is set to start, the team is also dealing with the return of several players from injury. Defensive tackle Kalia Davis, defensive tackle C.J. West, and defensive tackle Kevin Givens have all returned to full participation after being limited on Wednesday. Wide receiver Skyy Moore and offensive guard Dominick Puni also returned to practice with limited participation.
However, there are still some players who are out of practice, including wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos. Additionally, wide receiver Jauan Jennings, cornerback Renardo Green, tight end George Kittle, and wide receiver Jordan Watkins were limited in their practice. The 49ers have also added wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the injury report as a non-participant.
